13 October 2008-- Monday -- Holiday
I worked on cleaning my house. You see I tear stuff up and then try and put it back together. When it is in the torn up stage, it makes me totally nuts. VERY short trip... :) I accidently take a 1/2 Benadryl. This will come into play soon.
14 October 2008 -- Tuesday --
Work and then I had a hair appointment. When I got out of my hair appointment I looked at my cell phone... It had five missed calls from my mom. I am concerned so I return the call.. She is like Paulette, I got a special from Southwest and am ready to fly you from oregon 21 November until the 29 November. I am like I will have to look at a calendar. I hang up... I am like I have so much to do before Christmas and I am into November and I was planning on using November to get my floors done and my painting.. for those of you that know me.. you are like yeah right.. Like she is ever going to get her painting done... I am beginning to wonder that also. I have a few errands to run. I run one and then I get to thinking I wonder if we have to make this decision tonight. So I call her back. I ask her if we have to make the decision tonight she says yes... I say I will have to let her know and I hang up and walk into Barnes and Noble. My eye starts twitching. I have never had it happen over a stressful event. I told myself I am not buying into this drama. Took a deep breath and walked into Barnes and Nobles. I can't remember what I went in there for. I get out of B& N and call her back and told her to make the reservations. I told her that I don't know for sure that I am going but I am not going to worry about it anymore. I go home it is almost time for me to go to bed. I am a little bit itchy...
15 October 2008- Wednesday
I am little bit more itchy. I work. I have my Performance Apprasial. I did good.. woohoo! My hands and arms are itching bad. I am leaving to go to Denver on Friday. I am like I have ot get taken care of. I call the Dr. I am having an allergic reaction. I went to the Dr. that afternoon. I was suppose to have visiting teachers come to my house. I didn't have my visiting teacher's phone number. I made a decision to go to the dr instead of being home. We think that I am allergic to Benadryl... The Dr. gave me predisone, ointment, and something to help my skin be not so itchy. I went to the pharmacy and got the prescriptions.. I then went to dinner with Anna. Anna and I had a lot conversation about politics. We both don't understand people. I went home and not sure what I did.
16 October 2008 - Thursday
I teleworked. I was on a conference call for 99 minutes. I didn't get anything done. that is a bit frustrating because I was going TDY. I had to go pick up Shaun and Sabrina's check and deposit. I got Crown Burger. I went to Quality Quick Prints and got a couple books bound. I love books bound.. They make me happy. I came home and worked on my list for traveling. I verfied that I had everything in my bathroom bag that I needed. I worked on this a little bit. I packed. I then worked on cleaning my house. I went through each room and made sure that everything was kind of clean. I needed to vacuum. I then cleaned and took my last load out to the garage at 4:30 in the morning. I was going to bed but I couldn't sleep of course... I got up and took a shower and went back to bed.
17 October 2008 - Friday
I woke up a little bit late and got ready and took Sammy out to the kennel. Took my bags out to the car and left. I picked up Angie and Robin, drove to the airport. I was hungry but didn't get anything to eat, which I should have. We flew on this little plane. We got to Denver, we had to wait a while for the shuttle to take us to the rental car came. They took us to the rental car place and told us that they didn't have any cars. Yep that is truly what I said.. How does that happen, they said another place would honor our rental. So they drove us to rental place. We go the car a sweet SUV, but it didn't have any fuel in it. We asked Woody were we could eat. He told us a nice place. We went to their and ate, it was good. :) We found our way back to the hotel. We unpacked, except Robin, she didn't like where her room was. I made the reservations and they didn't put us together, who would think to ask. Lessons learned. Angie and Robin came down to my room and we hung out and visited. We ordered room service ... It was beautiful... not the greatest food but the presentation was fabulous. Ted's Montana Grill.
18 October 2008 -- Saturday
We got up and attempted to check in for the conference. We run into problems every year because the government doesn't do the things the way that normal business does. We had to have our training person come into work and work to get us sign up. We asked if we could do a PO and the guy called and the lady said no... well at one point the lady that he called was sitting by him when we were trying to do stuff. We said can we just do a PO and we will work on this monday she said yes. woohoo! The problem has to do with it being the beginning of the fiscal year and the government doesn't pay for stuff before it recieves services. UGH! This took most of the day. We then went shopping. :) In between the hotel and the conference center was mall. It was an outdoor mall kind of like the gateway... Not as high end as the gateway. Robin found some really cute clothes and we went to mineral makeup place. I can't remember where we ate this night. We had dessert every night. :) We ate at Johnny Rockets. then we went for dessert at Famous Daves... They have the best bread pudding. Yummy! I actually had pecan pie... it was pretty yummy too..
19 October 2008 - Sunday
We got up and went to breakfast. We kind of just hung out until it was time to go see Collin Powell. Wow what a great speaker. I can't believe how positive he was. He said yep there are things that we need to work and change but things are pretty good. He closed his talk with two stories.... First story: A really rich Japanese business man was asked where his favorite place in the world was, he said New York. When asked why, he said it is the only place that he is asked for directions. Second Story: He said no matter who he is... whether Secretary of Defense or General Powell. When he was SoD , he would have three or four body guards with ear pieces in, he would walk down park avenue, he said that new york police would have a few cop cars rolling along side of him. he would walk to the first hot dog peddler and get the worldest best hot dog. He said that there is none other like them. If he was SoD, they would say I have my green card. :) Or even now... he would walk and get his hot dog and the peddler would say aren't you that guy on tv... General Powell and he goes to pay them and they say the US has already paid me and won't accept his money. It was also the day that General Powell went on meet the press and said that he was supporting Obama. His comments when he came on stage, said he was lonely... He said research the candiates and pick which one has the beliefs that are closest to yours and get out and VOTE. One of the comments that Andy made that I will never forget, he said pick what is most important to you and find the candiate that is closest to those beliefs. For me two things are important to me. I am pro military. I want to make sure whoever is going to be president to pro defense. I want to keep my job. I am pro guns also. Going back to Powell support of Obama, I am happy because he is pro military. So maybe Obama will listen to him. :)
We went to eat at Maggiano's ... Oh my... we ate to much food. We had desert. Robin ordered a hot chocolate with whatever desert she got. It was soooooooooooo yummy. Starbucks has a hazelnut hot chocolate and it is pretty yummy not as much as Maggiano's
20 October 2008 - Monday
Monday I got up and had breakfast with Robin. I had to do some work. I have a project that was going in to the toliet, yep I left it... that is what a good pm does huh? Angie and I went to conference at 930. We had about a 1/2 mile walk to the conference center. We had some fabulous conferences. I can't wait to look up the white papers on the sessions. They were good. I really need to get away and get back and happy with the project world.
